In certain areas of northern and northeastern India, the visibility has been affected due to dense fog on roads and railways. Satellite images have shown ‘very dense’ fog in some parts of Punjab, Haryana, western Rajasthan, Bihar, Delhi, western Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Assam. The Indian Railways has reported that 18 trains going to Delhi are running late by six hours due to the fog. The weather department has predicted that the ‘very dense’ fog and cold weather conditions are likely to persist in northern India for the next five days.
