Earlier there was news of a collision between Coromandel Express and a goods train. After this the case of collision with Howrah Express also came to light and by late evening it was clear that three trains had collided with each other.
The pictures of the accident that have come out are terrible, after seeing them, it was feared that the death toll would exceed hundreds. That’s what happened, first 30, then 50, then 70 people, by midnight the death toll rose to 120 and in no time it rose from 207 to 280. According to the data revealed so far, 900 people are injured. Odisha Chief Minister Sachin Pradeep Jena gave this information.
There was commotion in the Bahnaga Bazar area throughout the night. It has been learned that many bodies are still stuck in the debris of the train coaches. Several AC coaches of the Coromandel Express overturned on the next track, hence the highest number of casualties. While the NDRF had to use gas cutters to extricate bodies trapped between the bogies, there are many injured who are trapped in the damaged bogies.
The army has also extended its hand to help in the rescue operation. The bodies of the passengers are being recovered from the section where the Coromandel Express collided with the freight train.
