Chandigarh, April 7 (Raftaar News Bureau) : The Punjab Governor and Administrator of UT Chandigarh Mr. V.P. Singh Badnore today administered oath of office to Justice Mehtab Singh Gill (Retd) as Chief Vigilance Commissioner and Amarpartap Singh Sekhon as the State Information Commissioner in a virtual ceremony held from Punjab Raj Bhawan.

Earlier, the Chief Secretary, Ms Vini Mahajan, from her office, sought the permission of the Governor to start the swearing in ceremony. On this occasion Member Parliament Mrs. Preneet Kaur was also present.

Earlier a three-member committee headed by Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has recommended the name of Justice Mehtab Singh Gill (retd) to head the Punjab State Vigilance Commission. The selection panel, comprising Speaker Rana KP Singh and Local Government Minister Brahm Mohindra, approved the name of Justice Gill.

Mr. Amarpartap Singh Sekhon had served as OSD to Mrs. Preneet Kaur when she was Union Minister of State for External Affairs. After that Mr. Sekhon has been serving as OSD to Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh from the last 4 years.
