Punjab and Haryana, along with other northern states of India, have been experiencing a cold wave, with temperatures dropping to single digits in many places. The recent snowfall in the Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir has brought an end to the prolonged cold weather in the valley. According to the meteorological department, Gurugram in Haryana (3 degrees Celsius) and Amritsar in Punjab (3.8 degrees Celsius) have been the coldest places, while Delhi, the national capital, recorded the coldest day in the past five years with a temperature of 3.6 degrees Celsius. The meteorological department has predicted the continuation of the cold wave in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi until January 16. The cold wave has intensified in Punjab and Haryana, with temperatures dropping significantly in many places. Dense fog has also been observed in several parts of both states, leading to reduced visibility. Amritsar, Ludhiana, and Patiala in Punjab have been particularly affected.
