Tarn-taran, 2 march (press ki taquat bureau): Aam Aadmi Party leader Gurpreet Singh Gopi (40) resident of Chohla Sahib was shot dead today near Fatehabad. He was on his way to the Kapurthala court to appear in a case, but in the meantime, the Fatehabad railway gate was closed and he waited for the gate to open. Meanwhile, three armed youths came behind him in a Swift car and they fired bullets at him which hit him in the chest and mouth due to which he died on the spot.
DSP Ravisher Singh of Goindwal Sahib said that due to the gate being closed, the attackers turned back after firing shots. The police of Goindwal Sahib reached the spot and kept the dead body in the mortuary of Tarn Taran Hospital. The police officer said that initially this matter seems to be a mutual grudge Four cases of premeditated murder and other felonies have been registered against Gopi.
Gurpreet Singh was a village level leader of AAP. He was trying to contest for the post of village sarpanch DSP Ravisher Singh said that a case has been registered in this regard and the search for the killers has been started.
