New delhi, 13 march (press ki taquat bureau):  The State Bank of India (SBI) informed the Supreme Court that a total of 22,217 electoral bonds were bought and 22,030 were redeemed by political parties between April 1, 2019, and February 15, 2021.

In a compliance affidavit submitted to the apex court, SBI stated that it has provided the details of electoral bonds to the Election Commission of India as per the court’s instructions before the end of business hours on March 12, including purchase dates, purchaser names, and bond denominations.

SBI’s chairman, Dinesh Kumar Khara, mentioned in the affidavit that the bank has also shared details with the EC regarding the encashment dates of the electoral bonds, the political parties receiving contributions, and the bond denominations.

Following the court’s directive, the EC was instructed to publish the information provided by the bank on its official website by 5 pm on March 15, after a five-judge Constitution bench had declared the electoral bonds scheme unconstitutional on February 15, ordering disclosure of donors, donation amounts, and recipients by March 13.
