New Delhi, March 16 (press ki taquat bureau): Navneet Kumar Sehgal, a retired bureaucrat, has been appointed as the new chairman of Prasar Bharati, filling a position that had been vacant for four years.
Sehgal takes over from A Surya Prakash, who reached the age limit of 70 in February 2020, ending his term as chairman.The appointment of Sehgal was made by the President based on the recommendation of the Selection Committee, as stated in an order dated March 15, 2024, by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar led a meeting to select the new chairman of Prasar Bharati, as he heads the selection panel for this position.
The selection panel for the Prasar Bharati chairman consists of the Vice President, the chairperson of the Press Council of India, and a nominee of the President.
The meeting to select the new chairman was attended by Justice Ranjana Desai (retd), the chairperson of the Press Council of India, and Sanjay Jaju, the Secretary of Information and Broadcasting.
