The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has clarified that regional languages, including Punjabi, have been categorized as minor subjects for the first term exams of Class 10 and 12. This clarification comes in response to Punjab Chief Minister objection to Punjabi being excluded from the main subjects. The CBSE emphasizes that the classification of subjects is purely for administrative convenience and does not reflect the importance of the subjects. All regional languages, including Punjabi, are considered equally important from an academic perspective. The first term exams for Class 10 will commence on November 30, while the exams for Class 12
