New Delhi, 2 April (Press ki taquat bureau): In the recent misleading advertisement case, the Supreme Court granted Baba Ramdev and Patanjali Ayurveda’s Managing Director Acharya Balkrishna a final opportunity to submit their response by next week, with the next hearing scheduled for April 10, where their presence was mandated by the court.
During the proceedings, Ramdev’s lawyer Balveer Singh mentioned that the yoga guru was present to offer an apology but couldn’t make it to the courtroom due to the crowd, which the court found unsatisfactory upon reviewing the affidavit presented.
The court emphasized that apologies should come directly from the individuals who have violated orders in such cases, directing the Registrar to pursue a case of false statement against both Ramdev and Balkrishna, leading to their eventual appearance in court and Ramdev’s unconditional apology.
Justices Hima Kohli and Amanatullah instructed Balbir Singh to be prepared, questioning why the Center had not taken action when Patanjali was publicly discrediting allopathy’s effectiveness in treating Covid, prompting Solicitor General Tushar Mehta to express regret over the situation and offer cooperation with Ramdev and Patanjali’s legal representatives.
