Lahore, April 29 (Press ki taquat bureau): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially designated Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi as the venues for the upcoming Champions Trophy, reiterating their commitment to hosting the tournament within the country despite rumors of a potential ‘hybrid model’ being considered to ensure India’s participation.
Scheduled tentatively for February-March next year, the Champions Trophy, last held in England in 2017, is eagerly anticipated by cricket fans worldwide. While India’s participation remains unconfirmed, speculations suggest that the ICC might resort to the ‘Hybrid Model,’ relocating the country’s matches to a neutral venue if government clearance for travel is not obtained. The ICC has emphasized that it will not go against any member nation’s government policies.
PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, during a press conference in Lahore, revealed that the schedule for the matches in Pakistan has been submitted to the ICC for the Champions Trophy, following a positive meeting with the ICC’s security team to review the arrangements and stadium upgrade plans. Emphasizing their commitment to hosting a successful tournament, Naqvi highlighted the efforts being made to ensure a top-notch event in Pakistan, despite challenges.
