A tragic incident unfolded in the national capital on Saturday, resulting in a murder linked to a dispute over the cleanliness of a shared toilet in the Govindpuri area. The altercation led to the death of one individual, while two others sustained injuries during the confrontation. The police have since detained five family members in connection with the case, and a formal murder investigation has been initiated at the Govindpuri police station.
The victim and the alleged assailants were all tenants residing on the first floor of a building located at 482, Gali No. 6 in Govindpuri, where they shared a common toilet facility. The conflict reportedly erupted when one tenant, referred to as “A,” used the toilet without flushing, igniting tensions between the neighbors. A call to the police control room at 12:07 am alerted authorities to a violent dispute between the two groups, resulting in the hospitalization of Sudheer, his brother Prem, and their friend Sagar at the AIIMS Trauma Centre.
As the situation escalated, Sudheer succumbed to his injuries, which included stab wounds to the chest and facial area, inflicted with a kitchen knife. The police received a medical legal case (MLC) notification around 3 am, confirming Sudheer’s death, while Prem was deemed unfit to provide a statement and Sagar was later discharged. The detained individuals include Bhikam Singh, his wife Meena, and their three sons, Sanjay, Rahul, and a minor, all of whom are now under investigation. Bhikam is employed at a local building materials shop in Govindpuri.
