The farmers are accusing the central government of spreading falsehoods and betraying them, leading to their decision to organize a ‘Delhi Chalo’ march on February 13. They are demanding a law to ensure a minimum support price for crops. The Wayanad MP criticized Prime Minister Modi for deceiving farmers and failing to fulfill his promise of doubling their income. He also highlighted the increase in farmers’ debts and the loss of lives due to unfair prices for their crops. The MP emphasized that those who obstruct the farmers’ path are not trustworthy and called for their removal from Delhi. The protest is expected to be joined by farmers from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab, similar to the year-long protest in 2020 against the three farm laws, which were later repealed by the government. The first round of talks between farmer union leaders and Union ministers took place in Chandigarh, and although a second round of meetings was promised, the ‘Delhi Chalo’ march is still scheduled to proceed.
