Mansa (Press Ki Taquat Bureau) Punjab school education and PWD minister Mr Vijay Inder Singla, on Tuesday, hoisted the national flag here at Sports stadium of Nehru Memorial College on the occasion of 72nd Republic Day. In his address, Mr Singla congratulated Mansa residents and also paid homage to the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives during freedom struggle and those who lost lives during farmer protest. He also lauded the contribution of Baba Saheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar for drafting such a beautiful constitution for whole country.
Mr. Singla said that under the visionary leadership of Captain Amarinder Singh, Punjab Government has ensured the overall development of the state. He added that CM Capt. Amarinder Singh has always stood by the interests of the state and he has been awarded as Paanian Da Rakha and Kisani Da Rakha, as well.
The cabinet minister said that their government converted more than 7800 government schools into smart schools and also provided free smartphones to 1.75 lakh students of +2 under Punjab Smart Connect Scheme. He added that with the reforms of the state government, government schools has outshined private schools and around 3.5 lakh new admissions have been have been enrolled in government schools.
Mr. Vijay Inder Singla said that to revamp the road network, 29,345 km Link Road have been repaired by spending Rs 3260 crore and basic amenities were being upgraded in villages under Smart Village Scheme by investing Rs. 2622 crore.
Mr Singla said that Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital has became a major respite for patients as it is providing free treatment to around 90 patients. After unfurling the national flag, the cabinet minister also inspected the contingents of Punjab Police, home guards and NCC. He also distributed tricycles to needy and honoured more than 60 people for their laudable work in various fields.
On this occasion, DC Mohinderpal, SSP Surinder Lamba, District and Sessions Judge Mandeep Pannu, MLA Najar Singh Manshahia, Chairman DPC Prem Mittal, former MLA Ajit Inder Singh Mofar, Kulwant Rai Singla, Ranjit Kaur Bhatti, Manju Bansal, Gurpreet Kaur Gaggowal, vice chairman Ram Singh, ADC Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu, SDM Shikha Bhagat among several other dignitaries were also present.
