Chennai Super Kings have rejected a trade proposal from Gujarat Titans for Washington Sundar, coinciding with ongoing discussions regarding a potential trade involving Sanju Samson with Rajasthan Royals.

The Chennai Super Kings are reportedly negotiating with the Gujarat Titans regarding a potential trade for all-rounder Washington Sundar. This development comes as Ravindra Jadeja is expected to depart from the franchise, alongside Sam Curran, while CSK is also likely to pursue a trade involving Sanju Samson from Rajasthan Royals.

New Delhi: As discussions surrounding a potential trade involving Sanju Samson and the Rajasthan Royals gain momentum, the Chennai Super Kings’ aspirations to find a suitable replacement for Ravindra Jadeja have encountered a setback. The Super Kings are reportedly engaged in advanced negotiations with the Royals to acquire their captain, Samson, which would involve sending Jadeja, along with another all-rounder, Sam Curran, to the 2008 champions. CSK, known for its reliance on spin bowlers, had initially aimed to include Washington Sundar in their lineup to strengthen their spin attack. However, recent reports from the Indian Express indicate that they have opted to decline a trade proposal from the Gujarat Titans, complicating their plans further.
Sundar’s performance with the ball last season was relatively limited, as he was not utilized extensively in that capacity. Over the course of six matches, he bowled fewer than 11 overs, managing to secure only two wickets. In contrast, his contributions with the bat were significantly more impactful; he amassed a total of 133 runs across five innings, achieving an impressive strike rate of 166.25. His highest score during this period was 49, showcasing his ability to score quickly and effectively when given the opportunity. This disparity in his contributions highlights a season where his batting prowess overshadowed his role as a bowler, reflecting the team’s strategic choices and his adaptability in different facets of the game.
