Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Tuesday said that the state government is ready to bear the entire expenditure to be incurred on land allotment by Delhi Development Authority (DDA) for construction of Sri Guru Ravidass ji Temple at Tughlakabad in New Delhi.
Notably, the Sri Guru Ravidass Temple and Samadhi, located in Village Tughlakabad, Delhi was unfortunately demolished during August, 2019. Legends say that Guru Ravidass ji visited this sacred place around 1509 during the reign of Mughal Emperor Sikander Lodhi.
Pointing out further, CM Channi said that the DDA had recently asked the Guru Ravidass Vishram Dham Mandir Chamarwala Johar Tughlakabad Committee to submit a sum of Rs 4.33 crore, for taking 400 square meters of land, as total with capitalised rent for 30 years. Since the amount was quite hefty due to exorbitant price of land, CM Channi said various delegations have approached him for seeking requisite contribution from the state government.
CM Channi further said that as the state government is already following the ideology of Sri Guru Ravidass ji in the right earnest to ensure well being of one and all therefore in the same spirit they have now decided if the committee desires so, then the State government will bear entire expense for procuring the land to construct of temple at Tughlakabad.
Highly overwhelmed over this, Chief Minister said that probably he would the most fortunate and blessed one in case the committee wishes to bestow service to the state government led by him.
Terming this gesture, as a humble tribute by the Punjab government to Sri Guru Ravidass ji, who preached the eternal message of love, peace, compassion, universal brotherhood and oneness of mankind through his life and philosophy. CM Channi said that Guru ji made tireless efforts for bringing social awakening through ethos of equality and harmony.
Referring to Bani of Guru Ravidas ji included in sacred Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji, the repository of knowledge, faith and learning for the entire mankind, CM Channi said that it is moral duty of state government to uphold the glorious legacy of great Guru for our coming generations adding that besides keeping a budgetary provision for Chair on name of Sri Guru Ravidass ji, his government has also decided to set up state of the art of Sri Guru Ravidass Bani Research (Adhyan) Centre in Sachkhand Ballan at a cost of Rs 50 crore.
CM Channi said that the path shown by the great Guru for creation of an egalitarian society being the basic pillar of his government’s commitment to ensure welfare of all sections of the society and overall development of the state.
