PILOT PROJECT TO TACKLE MENACE OF STRAY CATTLE TO BE LAUNCHED SOON

Bathinda, October 7 (Press Ki Taquat)

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday reiterated the firm commitment of the state government to further develop Bathinda into a ‘model district’.

Chairing a meeting with the MLAs and officers here today, the Chief Minister reviewed the progress of various ongoing projects in the district. He said that the district will be equipped with ultra modren facilities to give benefit to the people. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the hub of Malwa district will be given a complete facelift in the coming months.

The Chief Minister further said that in a step aimed at solving the problem of stray cattle, the state government will soon launch pilot project in Bathinda district. He said that it will be great reprieve to the people as it will help in saving their previous lives. Bhagwant Mann said that the stray cattle menace poses a grave threat to life of people due to fatal road accidents.

The Chief Minister further said that nearly 1000 acres of land where the fly ash of Guru Nanak Thermal Plant was dumped is lying vacant. He said that this land needs to be utilised for benefitting the people of the town. Bhagwant Mann asked the departments of Housing, Urban Development and Industries to jointly chalk out a detailed proposal for using this land optimally in larger public interest.

The Chief Minister said that this prime land is an asset of the state and must be used in such a manner that  it gives impetus to the overall development of the state in general and Bathinda district in particular. He said that the blue print to be prepared by these departments must keep in view the aspects of judicious use of this land. Bhagwant Mann said that Bathinda is a major town of the state and this prime land can act as pivot for accelerating development of town on one hand and fulfilling needs of the people on the other.
