The Congress party has assigned a significant responsibility to Charanjit Singh Channi, the former Chief Minister of Punjab and current Member of Parliament from the Jalandhar constituency. On Tuesday evening, the Congress appointed Channi and Mukesh Agnihotri, the former Deputy Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, as senior observers for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections in 2024.
It is noteworthy that the first phase of voting for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections is taking place today, Wednesday. The Congress aims to avoid any risks regarding these elections, thus entrusting candidates who have won by substantial margins from various states with responsibilities in Jammu and Kashmir. Just before the voting, the Congress party designated Channi as a senior observer for the AICC.
This information was provided in a list released by KC Venugopal, the National General Secretary of the Congress party. Charanjit Singh Channi, the former Chief Minister of Punjab, is at the forefront of this strategic move.
