Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has said that his party has learned a lesson from the performance of the recently held assembly elections while inviting the party workers to focus on the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Addressing the leaders during an important meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) at the party office here, Kharge said that the Congress is committed not to repeat the mistakes of the past. He said that many Congress leaders want Rahul Gandhi to take another Bharat Joko Yatra from east to west, but the final decision is to be taken by the former president himself. After a meeting that lasted for nearly four hours, the CWC passed a unanimous resolution and said that all necessary steps will be taken to strengthen the ‘India’ alliance to fight against the BJP and its partners. The party also said that the suspension of MPs from the Parliament was done so that the opposition could not pose any challenge to the Modi government there as they had to pass three tough criminal laws. A rally will be held in Nagpur on the occasion of the foundation day of the party. This was the first meeting of the CWC after the poor performance of the Congress in the assembly elections. Expressing disappointment over the election results of the remaining four states except Telangana, Kharge said that the Congress has conducted a preliminary study of the results and found out the reasons behind this protest. Despite the results, there are some positive signs. The vote share of the party in the polling states gives us hope that if we pay full attention, we can turn around the results. We have learned big lessons from the mistakes and we are committed not to repeat them.’ Kharge said that the opposition alliance ‘India’ has unanimously decided to start talks on the distribution of seats by meeting on December 19. He said that the Congress has formed a five-member committee in this regard, which will hold talks with other parties in different states. The Congress president said during the meeting that there is very little time left for the Lok Sabha elections and he appealed to everyone to focus on practical issues. Regarding the suspension of opposition members from Parliament, Kharge said that it was part of a conspiracy to make Parliament a platform for the ruling party. “The whole country is watching how the BJP is strangling democracy by passing important bills without any debate or discussion,” he accused the BJP of trying to control institutions like the Election Commission and the government had violated the Constitution. , has put parliament and democracy in jeopardy. –
