The schedule for this year’s ICC Men’s ODI World Cup to be held in India has been announced. The tournament will begin on October 5 with the opening match between England and New Zealand, which will be hosted by the world’s largest Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium. The final will also be played at this ground on November 19. India will open their campaign against Australia in Chennai on October 8. । The semi-finals will be played in Mumbai and Kolkata. It is also known which cities will host a total of 48 matches between 10 teams that will last for 50 days.
The arch-rivals India-Pakistan clash will take place on October 15 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Apart from India, Pakistan, eight teams – Afghanistan, Australia, England, Bangladesh, South Africa and New Zealand – have qualified on the basis of the ICC rankings released till the cut-off date of May 14. Two more teams will join in the qualifiers to be held in Zimbabwe from June 18 to July 9. Each team will play one match with the remaining nine teams. A total of 45 league matches will be played on this basis.
