07-06-2023 (Press Ki Taquat)- According to the Meteorological Department, cyclonic storm Biporjoy is likely to move northward and intensify during the next 24 hours. In view of the threat of cyclone, the Gujarat government has also started preparations.
It has been named Biporjoy. At 5:30 am today, a severe cyclonic storm formed over the East Central and adjoining Southeast Arabian Sea. It is centered around 12.6N and 66.1E and is located about 890km west-southwest of Goa.
This cyclone formed in the Arabian Sea will intensify as it moves northwards. According to the Meteorological Department, the wind speed in the cyclone will be 150 to 190 km per hour, there is a possibility of strong waves in the sea from June 8 to 10. The biggest impact will be seen in the coastal cities of Gujarat.
