The Supreme Court raised concerns on Monday regarding the Delhi government’s slow action in rolling out tougher anti-pollution strategies as part of GRAP-4. The court made it clear that it wouldn’t permit any reduction in these preventive measures without its explicit approval. Justices Abhay S Oka and Augustine George Masih highlighted the noticeable lag in putting these measures into effect, especially since the Air Quality Index (AQI) had reached dangerously high levels in the city. At the beginning of the hearing, the Delhi government’s lawyer informed the bench that stage 4 of GRAP had finally been put into action that day, which included a ban on heavy vehicles entering the capital.
