District and Sessions Judge Patiala inspects Jails of Patiala District

    Ms Rupinderjit Chahal, Ld. District and Sessions Judge cum Chairperson, District Legal Services Authority, Patiala alongwith Ms Manni Arora, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Patiala inspected Central Jail, Patiala, New District Jail, Nabha and Open Air Jail, Nabha. During the visits, Ms Rupinderjit Chahal, Ld. District and Sessions Judge interacted with the jails inmates regarding their grievances/problems being faced by them. Jail Superintendent, other officers and staff of the jails were instructed to ensure timely redressal of their grievances/problems.

          Today a Skill Development Room was inaugurated by Ld. District and Sessions Judge, Patiala in New District Jail, Nabha. On this occasion, she told that professional courses like Beautician course, Computer course, Phulkari, Stitching, Agriculture and Horticulture have been started in the jails of District Patiala. She further told that Meditation/Yoga camps and medical camps for jail inmates are also organized in District Patiala jails by District Legal Services Authority, Patiala.

          During the visit at Central Jail, Patiala, certificates have been distributed by her among jail inmates who have completed Beautician Course in Central Jail, Patiala.

          Apart from this, a legal awareness programme was also held by Ms Manni Arora, CJM cum Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Patiala with the jail inmates of Central Jail, Patiala. During this programme, jail inmates were sensitized  about the bad effects of drug addiction on human body and mind. They were also made aware about NALSA (Legal Services to the Victims of Drug abuse and Eradication of Drug Menace) Scheme, 2015, The concept of Pre Institution Mediation, Free legal aid and persons who are entitled for getting free legal aid.
