Karachi, April 12 (Press ki taquat bureau): A police official revealed that 19 citizens in Karachi lost their lives due to armed robbers during attempted robberies.
This year, the city has experienced a significant increase in robbery-related deaths, reaching a total of 56, along with over 200 individuals injured. Last year during the same period, there were 25 fatalities and 110 injuries due to resistance against robberies. In 2023, the numbers were alarmingly higher, with 108 deaths and 469 injuries from similar incidents.
Karachi police have been involved in 425 shootouts with robbers this year, resulting in 55 dacoits being neutralized and 439 sustaining injuries. A report by the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) highlighted 22,627 reported crimes in the first three months of 2024, including 59 fatalities and over 700 injuries due to resistance during robberies. The report also mentioned thefts of 373 cars, 15,968 motorbikes, and 6,102 mobile phones, along with 25 extortion incidents and five cases of kidnapping for ransom in Karachi, as reported by ARY News.
