This morning around 6 o’clock, on the Jalandhar-Pathankot national highway, a bus carrying police constables from the village of Aima Mangat collided with a truck parked on the side of the road, resulting in the death of four individuals, including the bus driver and a female police constable. The accident occurred due to poor visibility caused by dense fog. There were approximately 35 police constables on board the bus at the time of the incident. Around twelve injured constables were immediately rescued and admitted to nearby hospitals, while nine individuals with serious injuries were referred to further hospitals for specialized treatment. The police constables were on duty as part of the security arrangements for the Republic Day celebrations on January 26. The accident was so severe that it required significant efforts to extricate the injured, including the driver, and remove them from the wreckage with the assistance of other vehicles. SSP Surinder Lamba and senior officials from the police department have visited the scene.
