The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has appealed to a court here that the survey report of the Gyanvapi Masjid complex should not be made public for another four weeks. Hindu side lawyer Madan Mohan Yadav said that after the appeal made by ASI, Varanasi District Court Judge AK Vishwesh adjourned the hearing of the case till Thursday. The ASI had submitted its survey report to the district court in a sealed envelope on December 18. The petitioners have claimed that the 17th century mosque was built on the existing temple after which the court ordered its survey. ASI conducted a scientific survey of the Gyanavapi complex adjacent to the Kashi Vishwanath temple to ascertain the reality. The court had asked the ASI to ensure that no damage is done to the structure standing on the disputed land.
