Half of the bills passed so far during the 17th Lok Sabha were not discussed for even two hours and only 16 percent of these bills were sent to the parliamentary standing committees. This information is shown in data collected by think tank PRS Legislative Research. According to the report, the 17th Lok Sabha is going to be the only Lok Sabha in which the Deputy Speaker has not been elected. The Constitution mandates the Lok Sabha to elect a Deputy Speaker as soon as possible after the elections. During the winter session that lasted from December 14 to 21, 100 Lok Sabha and 46 Rajya Sabha MPs were suspended, making up 19 per cent of each house. This is the highest number of suspended MPs in any Lok Sabha.
