India has strongly criticized Pakistan for its “unjustified” mention of Jammu and Kashmir during discussions at the United Nations General Assembly. New Delhi emphasized that such statements will not lend credibility to Pakistan’s claims nor excuse its engagement in cross-border terrorism. India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador P Harish, articulated this position during an informal plenary session on Friday, which was held to observe the International Day to Combat Islamophobia. He pointed out that the former foreign secretary of Pakistan has once again made an unwarranted reference to the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, reiterating India’s stance on the matter.
