England, 12-06-2023 (Press Ki Taquat)- The International Cricket Council (ICC) has launched a new tournament in 2019, the World Test Championship (WTC). The tournament lasts for two years, in which all Test status teams play series against each other. After this, there is a final match between the top-2 teams in the points table and the winning team gets the title.
The first season took place from 2019 to 2021, in which the Indian team and New Zealand were on the top-2. The final match took place between these two in Southampton, in which New Zealand won and captured the title. The second i.e. 2021-2023 season of WTC has also been completed.
In the final match of WTC 2023, the Indian team suffered a crushing defeat. With this, the dream of winning the title for the second time in a row was also shattered. The Australian team has won by 209 runs in this title match played at the Oval ground in London. After this match, questions have started to arise on the format and venue of this ICC WTC.
