Mumbai, March 13 (press ki taquat bureau): Vidarbha put up a strong fight against Mumbai in their pursuit of a massive target of 538 runs. Led by Karun Nair and skipper Akshay Wadkar, Vidarbha frustrated their hosts by adopting a defensive approach for most of the day. Nair played a crucial role, facing 220 balls and batting for 287 minutes to keep Mumbai at bay.
With Wadkar on 56 and Harsh Dubey on 11 not out, Vidarbha needed another 290 runs with five wickets in hand. Mumbai managed to take a couple of wickets in each of the first two sessions and finally dismissed Nair in the last session. Despite trying various strategies, Mumbai’s bowlers struggled to make an impact on the placid pitch at the Wankhede Stadium.
