Morinda, 02-05-2023 (Press Ki Taquat)- Jasveer Singh Jassi, the person who committed blasphemy in a Gurdwara in Morinda, died on Monday, who was arrested by the Punjab Police. According to police sources, Jassi was complaining of chest pain and difficulty in breathing before being taken to the government hospital.
Jasvir Singh was arrested on April 24 after a video went viral, showing him entering the sanctum sanctorum of Gurdwara Kotwali Sahib in Morinda in Rupnagar district, killing two granthis (priests) and carrying the Sikh religious scripture Guru Granth Sahib. was shown to be desecrating
Mansa senior police captain Nanak Singh said that the accused died in the civil hospital.
He was taken to a hospital in the afternoon after complaining of “discomfort”, and died around 9:10 p.m., police said.
A doctor at the Mansa Civil Hospital said that Jasvir Singh was brought to the hospital from the jail around 4 pm due to breathing problems.
Around 8:30 pm, his condition worsened as his blood pressure and oxygen saturation levels dropped significantly, the doctor said.
He said that despite the best efforts of the doctors to save him, the accused died at around 9:10 pm.
Jasveer Singh, who worked as an electrician, was surrounded and beaten up by devotees present at the shrine. After this he was handed over to the police.
The incident was condemned by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, various leaders of political parties and even the Jathedar of Akal Takht and Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC).
