Kolkata, August 13 (Press ki taquat bureau): Junior doctors throughout West Bengal persisted in their strike on Tuesday, protesting the tragic rape and murder of a female physician at a government medical college and hospital in Kolkata, while simultaneously calling for justice in her case. 2. In a related development, elective services in government hospitals in Delhi remained suspended as the strike by resident doctors, triggered by the murder of the trainee doctor, entered its second consecutive day on Tuesday. Additionally, junior doctors at the state-run Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences in Ranchi initiated a ‘pen-down’ protest, opting to boycott outpatient department (OPD) services and elective surgeries in response to the heinous crime against their colleague. 3. This widespread agitation significantly disrupted healthcare services, leading to long lines of patients at the OPDs of all government hospitals from early Tuesday morning, as senior doctors stepped in to fill the void left by their junior colleagues in an effort to manage the overwhelming patient influx.
