Various Sikh leaders have written a letter to the Jathedar of the Akal Takht and appealed that former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and Shomani Akali Dal president Sukhbir should not take any action on the investigation report of BP Tiwari in the Gurdev Singh Kaunke case. Action should be taken against Singh Badal as per panthic norms. He also appealed to withdraw the Panth Ratna and Pakhre Kom awards given to late Parkash Singh Badal. This letter has been submitted by Sikh leaders Bhai Mohkam Singh, Bhai Manjit Singh Bhoma, Bhai Gurdeep Singh Bathinda and others at the Secretariat of Sri Akal Takht. Referring to the alleged murder of former Akal Takht executive Jathedar Gurdev Singh Kaunke in this letter, he said that after the Badal government came to power in 1997, the matter was investigated by police officer BP Tiwari. This investigation report was submitted to the then Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal in 1999. The Sikh leaders alleged that no action was taken on this report by the former Chief Minister Mr. Badal. Similarly, no action was taken on this report by Captain Amarinder Singh, the Chief Minister of the later established Congress government. The Sikh leaders have appealed that Captain Amarinder Singh and Sukhbir Singh Badal should be summoned to Sri Akal Takht in this matter. Action should be taken against both of them according to sect norms. It is worth mentioning that just yesterday, Shomani Committee has found the enjoyment of Akhand Path. The Shomani Committee appealed to the Jathedar of Shri Akal Takht that Bhai Kaunke should be honored as a national martyr. The report in this regard has been made public a few days ago and this report was submitted to the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht. Kalka surrounded the Badals in the case of Jathedar Kaunke
New Delhi (Mandhir Singh Deol): Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee President Harmeet Singh Kalka has questioned the performance of the Badals in the former executive Jathedar Gurdev Singh Kaunke case. He said that after the formation of the Congress government led by Beant Singh in 1992, he was picked up from the house of former acting Jathedar Gurdev Singh Kaunke in the presence of 200 people on December 25, 1992. He said that before the 1997 elections, Parkash Singh Badal had promised the people that when his government was formed, a fair investigation would be conducted into all the cases of killing Jathedar Kaunke. He said that in 1998, a team was formed under the leadership of ADGP Tiwari who investigated the entire matter and submitted a report. Despite this, no action was taken against any accused during the Akali Dal government from 1997 to 2002 and again from 2007 to 2017.
