New Delhi, April 12 (Press ki taquat bureau): Six-time world champion boxer MC Mary Kom has decided to step down as India’s chef-de-mission for the Paris Olympics due to personal reasons. Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president PT Usha confirmed that Mary Kom requested to be relieved from her duties in a letter addressed to her.
In the letter, Mary Kom expressed her regret at not being able to fulfill the prestigious responsibility, stating that she had mentally prepared herself for the role. Despite her willingness to serve her country in any capacity, she cited personal reasons as the cause for her resignation from the position.
Mary Kom emphasized that it was a difficult decision for her to make, as she rarely backs out of commitments. However, she reiterated her support for India and the athletes participating in the Olympics, expressing her enthusiasm and high hopes for their success in the upcoming games.
