Sh. Manjinder Singh, Member Secretary, Punjab State Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar alongwith Ms Manni Arora, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Patiala inspected Central Jail, Patiala. During the visit, Sh. Manjinder Singh, Member Secretary, Punjab Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar inaugurated Computer Training Course and Bakery Course for male and female jail inmates in Central Jail, Patiala. Such training not only provides jail inmates value for their work but also helps in developing the prisoners learning skills which can enable them to follow a vocation and respectful life after release from the jail. Vocational training offers inmates a chance for fresh start after prison. About 100 jail inmates will get benefit from these vocational programmes.
On this occasion, Hon’ble Judge interacted with the jail inmates regarding their grievances/problems being faced by them. Jail Superintendent, other officers and staff of the jails were instructed to ensure timely redressal of their grievances/problems. They were directed to pay special attention towards health and medical facilities, which are being provided to the jail inmates.
During this visit, a legal awareness programme was also conducted by Ms Manni Arora, Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Patiala with jail inmates. During this programme, they were made aware about plea bargaining and free legal services.

Hon’ble judge also visited at Alternative Dispute Redressal (ADR) Centre, District Courts Complex Patiala to supervise its working. He inspected the records being maintained in the office of Legal Aid Defense Counsel System as well as Front Office, DLSA Office, Patiala. During this visit, he interacted with Retainer Lawyers in front office as well as Legal Aid defense Counsels. Ms Manni Arora, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Patiala was also present there.
