Opposition MPs in the 18th Lok Sabha have expressed their concerns over alleged irregularities in competitive exams and demanded answers from the government. On the first day of the session, several newly-elected members highlighted the plight of students who are stuck in limbo due to the government’s lack of consideration. The credibility of the examination system has also been called into question. As Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan took his oath, opposition members raised slogans regarding the controversy surrounding competitive exams like NEET-UG and UGC-NET. DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi emphasized that Tamil Nadu has long been skeptical about the credibility of NEET and now the entire country shares those concerns. Pappu Yadav, an Independent MP, criticized the CBI’s involvement in the NEET-UG investigation and called for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe. Congress MP Renuka Chowdhury stated that the NEET issue will be a significant topic of discussion in Parliament, as it affects the hard work and financial investment of countless students and their parents.
