Patiala, 28-04-2023 (Press Ki Taquat)– The Department of Social Security and Women and Child Development organized various programs in the district during the month of April on the occasion of World Autism Awareness Day. In this regard, a seminar has been organized today at the Zilla Parishad complex under the leadership of District Social Security Officer Virinder Singh Bains. In this seminar Mr. Gurikbal Singh Bedi, Board of Member of National Trust Act and Secretary of Autism India Today, Mrs. Harpreet Kaur Bedi specially joined from Autism India Today.
At the beginning of the program, District Social Security Officer Virinder Singh Bains said that seminars and awareness camps are being organized by the Social Security Department especially regarding autism. Under this series, a seminar is being held today in district Patiala. Parents of children suffering from autism are specially invited in this.
Secretary Autism India Today Gurikbal Singh Bedi has told that autism is a lifelong brain development disorder, so a child affected by autism is called MR. Cannot be categorized. It was told by him that the UDID of the child suffering from autism. Cards must be made and registered under Nirmaya Health Insurance Scheme which is a scheme of Government of India as under this scheme free treatment up to 1 lakh rupees and upto 30 thousand for each type of treatment can be done. Includes therapy.

Mr. Mandeep Singh, Assistant Professor, Navjivani School of Special Education, Suler, told that a child affected by autism cannot be placed in the mentally retarded category. These children can be made capable of leading a normal life by giving them special education. Mr. Satnam Singh, Mr. Sarkar Sharan C. Sahaik and Mr. Sanjeev Kumar from the office of District Social Security Officer, Patiala also participated in this seminar. After this, everyone was thanked by the District Social Security Officer, Patiala Mr. Varinder Singh Bains.
