Bangkok, August 16 (Press ki taquat bureau):  Thailand’s Parliament made a significant decision by electing Paetongtarn Shinawatra, the youngest daughter of the controversial former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, as the new prime minister of the country.

With this election, Paetongtarn joins the ranks of her father, who was ousted in a coup but returned from exile last year, and her aunt Yingluck Shinawatra, who currently lives abroad, making her the third member of the Shinawatra family to take on the role of prime minister. At just 37 years old, she not only becomes the youngest leader in Thailand’s history but also the second woman to hold the position, following her aunt. Although she leads the ruling Pheu Thai party, she was not an elected lawmaker, which is permissible for prime ministerial candidates.
