Kolkata, August 14 (Press ki taquat bureau): Healthcare services across West Bengal faced significant disruptions as doctors continued their strike on Wednesday, protesting the horrific rape and murder of a female doctor. Long lines formed at the ticket counters of Outpatient Departments (OPDs) in all government hospitals, where senior doctors stood in solidarity with their junior colleagues to voice their outrage over the crime. One protesting doctor expressed their frustration, stating, “We aren’t making any new demands; we are simply reacting to the fact that some individuals seem to be getting special treatment. There have been attempts to manipulate the situation, including construction work being initiated on the same floor of RG Kar Hospital where our colleague was brutally attacked. We see no justification for halting our protest.” The West Bengal Joint Platform of Doctors organized this strike, affecting both governmental and private hospitals throughout the state.
