Piyush Pandey, a prominent figure in the advertising sector, passed away this morning, casting a shadow of sorrow over the industry. His illustrious career, which spanned more than forty years, was marked by significant achievements and contributions to the field. Prior to his death, it was reported that Pandey had been in a coma for approximately a month. He embarked on his advertising career in 1982 at Ogilvy & Mather India, now known as Ogilvy India, starting as a trainee account executive before transitioning to the creative department. Throughout his tenure, he ascended to several prestigious roles, including National Creative Director, Executive Chairman for India, and Global Chief Creative Officer. The news of his passing was confirmed by his sister, Ila Arun, who expressed her profound grief in a heartfelt statement, revealing the deep loss felt by the family. In her message, she conveyed the sorrow of losing their beloved brother and indicated that further details would be shared by their brother, Prasoon Pandey. The impact of Pandey’s death resonated beyond his family, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other officials expressed their condolences, highlighting his remarkable creativity and significant contributions to advertising and communication. Modi fondly recalled their interactions over the years and extended his thoughts to Pandey’s family and admirers, emphasizing the void left by his passing.
