Patiala, 11 July(Press Ki Taquat)
Former external affairs minister and current Member Parliament from Patiala, Preneet Kaur today took stock of the rain affected areas of Patiala.
Preneet Kaur visited areas adjoining Patiala’s Badi Nadi including Sanjay Colony and Ghalori gate.
Talking to the media after visiting various rain affected areas in the city, the Patiala MP said, “It’s saddening to see that Incessant rains over the last 2-3 days have caused havoc across the country. In Patiala also many areas of the city have been badly affected by these rains and are facing waterlogging at numerous places. Today I visited a few of these areas to take stock of the situation and I have directed the administration to quickly address the problem of waterlogging by using suction pumps.”
Preneet Kaur further said, “I have also visited the Badi Nadi whose levels are rising due to continuous showers which is a bit worrying and I also urge the people living nearby to help out the administration in evacuating the area and getting to safer shelters.”
Asked about the government’s preparedness to handle this situation the Patiala MP said, “Waterlogging at so many places in the city has completely exposed the unpreparedness of the current government and administration in handling this situation. Alerts regarding heavy rains had come so many days ago and yet the government failed to take any preventive measures. Earlier water used to only stand for 15-20 mins in the city as proper regular cleaning of the Jacob drain used to be done during our government, but failure to do so has resulted in massive waterlogging this time causing great distress to the people of Patiala.”
Preneet Kaur was accompanied by her daughter Jai Inder Kaur, Ex mayor Sanjeev Sharma Bittu, Sandeep Malhotra, Ginny Nagpal.
