February 14 (press ki taquat bureau): A significant number of individuals, including journalists, sustained severe injuries as Haryana Police resorted to tear gas shells to prevent hundreds of farmers from entering Haryana by force through the Shambhu border. In response, farmers’ representatives reportedly announced a “ceasefire” later in the day. Reports from Haryana indicate that more than 10 security personnel, including a DSP-ranking officer, were injured due to farmers hurling stones at the Shambhu border.
To disperse the farmers who attempted to cross the barricades established by authorities, the police employed tear gas shells, rubber bullets, and water cannons at Khanauri-Data Singh Wala in Jind district, Haryana. At the Khanauri border, a group of youths assaulted some police personnel, resulting in injuries to approximately 10 officers. Despite repeated warnings, some protesters were apprehended as they continued to gather in the area. Enhanced security measures were implemented in other districts of Haryana as well.
