Dubai, June 29 (Press ki taquat bureau): An official announcement on Saturday confirmed that Iran will be holding a runoff presidential election to replace the late hard-line President Ebrahim Raisi, as the initial vote did not see any of the top candidates securing an outright win.
The upcoming election, scheduled for this Friday, will feature reformist candidate Masoud Pezeshkian facing off against the hard-line former nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili.
The election spokesman, Mohsen Eslami, revealed the results during a news conference broadcasted by Iranian state television. Out of the 24.5 million votes cast, Pezeshkian received 10.4 million while Jalili garnered 9.4 million.
