India’s most wanted terrorist Shahid Latif has been killed in Pakistan.
As per reports, Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist Shahid Latif, the mastermind of 2016 Pathankot attack, was shot dead by “three unknown gunmen” in a mosque at Sialkot.
In 2010, the UPA government had released 25 terrorists as a goodwill gesture. One of them was terrorist Shahid Latif.
He went on to plan the January 2, 2016, attack on the Pathankot airbase where seven IAF personnel were killed when four JeM terrorists sneaked into the station.
The siege went on for three days.
Latif, alias Bilal, a designated terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, is learnt to have been shot dead along with two of his associates.
He had infiltrated into the Kashmir Valley in 1993 and was arrested a year later. He was in Jammu jail with Masood Azhar, founder of the JeM, till 2010, officials said.
“This is the biggest blow to JeM on Pakistan soil,” an official said.
