Chandigarh, February 16 (press ki taquat bureau): Commuters in Punjab experienced inconvenience as numerous buses refrained from operation in response to the Samyukta Kisan Morcha’s call for a ‘Bharat Bandh’ demanding farmer-related reforms, including a legal assurance for Minimum Support Price (MSP).
Supporting the SKM’s bandh call were Punjab Roadways, Punbus, and the PRTC Contract Workers’ Union. Throughout the day, farmers also organized demonstrations in various locations across Punjab in affiliation with the SKM. Many farmer organizations, such as Bharti Kisan Union (Rajewal), Bharatiya Kisan Union (Dakunda), Bharatiya Kisan Union (Lakhowal), Bharatiya Kisan Union (Qadian), and Kirti Kisan Union, actively participated in the bandh. Consequently, passengers encountered difficulties as they anxiously waited for buses at several bus stands, hoping to reach their intended destinations.
The absence of buses particularly inconvenienced students and office-goers, with one college student at the Patiala bus stand expressing frustration at the unavailability of buses for his commute to Landran road.
