The Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today accused the BJP of wanting to confine tribal people to the jungles and deprive them of education and other opportunities. On the second day of his ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ in Assam, Rahul claimed that the Congress recognizes the rights of the ‘adivasis’ (indigenous people) on resources. He said, “We call you adivasis, which means people who have been living since ancient times. BJP calls you ‘vanvasi’, which means people living in the jungles.” Before starting his journey with his supporters today, Rahul Gandhi reached the Nimati Ghat in Jorhat district by boat. The Congress leader alleged that the BJP wants to limit the adivasis to the jungles and prevent their children from getting education in schools and universities, including English.
