Islamabad, May 8 (Press ki taquat bureau): The Islamabad High Court in Pakistan has approved the request made by Bushra Bibi, the wife of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, to be transferred to jail instead of being under house arrest, as ordered by the government.
Bibi, in her petition to the court, alleged that her privacy was being violated and that she was being served contaminated food in her home cell, which she claimed was predominantly occupied by men, a claim that the prison staff has refuted.
Following the court’s decision, Bibi was moved to Adyala jail in Rawalpindi, where her husband, Imran Khan, is currently serving a 14-year sentence. The move to transfer Bibi to jail was seen as a response to critics who speculated that her house arrest was part of a negotiation deal with the government.
Major General Ahmed Sharif, a spokesperson for the Pakistan army, emphasized that negotiations with parties involved in attacks against state institutions, such as the one led by Khan’s supporters in May last year, were not feasible without seeking forgiveness first. Asad Qaisar, a close associate of Imran Khan, dismissed the possibility of issuing an apology in this regard during an interview with local ARY TV.
