Karnal, April 11 (Press ki taquat bureau): The procurement of wheat in Karnal and Kaithal districts is facing a challenge due to a higher moisture content than the prescribed limit. The prevailing weather conditions, characterized by low temperatures, are the main cause of this issue. Furthermore, there is a forecast of rain and hailstorm in the upcoming days, which may further increase the moisture content in the crop.
As a result, procurement agencies are hesitant to purchase the produce, as the grains arriving at the grain markets have a moisture content of up to 18 percent, exceeding the prescribed limit of 12 percent. The farmers have requested the government to relax the norms for wheat procurement, considering the impact of the low temperature on the moisture content.
