The High Court has rejected the appeal of the Punjab government against the 2015 orders of the High Court, which granted bail to Congress legislator Sukhpal Singh Khaira in the NDPS Act case. Justice Bela M. Trivedi and Justice K.Vishwanathan of the bench stated that they will not interfere with the orders of the Punjab and Haryana High Court on January 4. The bench told senior advocate Siddharth Luthra, who appeared on behalf of the Punjab government, that even though the allegations against Khaira are serious, he will not be allowed to bypass the orders of the High Court in the facts and circumstances of the case. The Punjab and Haryana High Court had granted bail to legislator Khaira from the Bhulath Vidhan Sabha constituency.
