New Delhi, June 12 (Press ki taquat bureau):  The Delhi government faced strong criticism from the Supreme Court on Wednesday for its inaction against the water tanker mafia, which has exacerbated the severe water crisis in the national capital during the peak summer season. The Bench, led by Justice PK Mishra, expressed its dissatisfaction with the government’s lack of action and warned that if they continued to neglect the issue, the Delhi Police would be entrusted with the responsibility of taking action against the tanker mafia. The court highlighted the distressing situation faced by the people due to water scarcity and the evident presence of the tanker mafia, which has been widely reported in various media channels. The Bench questioned the government about their efforts to prevent water wastage and whether any action or FIRs had been filed against the tanker mafia. It emphasized the alarming fact that while the tanker mafias were obtaining water, the pipelines were running dry, further exacerbating the water crisis. Solicitor General Tushar Menta had previously revealed that a staggering 52.35 percent of water in Delhi was either wasted or stolen by the water tanker mafia, leaving only 47.65 percent for the residents of Delhi. The Supreme Court’s reprimand highlights the urgent need for the Delhi government to take immediate and effective action to address the water crisis and curb the activities of the water tanker mafia.
