Amman (Jordan), August 21 (Press ki taquat bureau): Ronak Dahiya of India achieved a significant milestone by securing the bronze medal in the 110kg Greco-Roman division at the U-17 World Wrestling Championship held on Tuesday. In the playoff for the bronze medal, Ronak, who is currently ranked second globally in his age group and weight class, showcased his skills by decisively defeating Turkey’s Emrullah Capkan with a score of 6-1, marking India’s inaugural medal at this championship. Prior to this victory, Ronak faced a setback in the semi-finals, where he was bested by Zoltan Czako of Hungary, the eventual silver medalist. In the same weight category, the gold medal was claimed by Ukraine’s Ivan Yankovskyi, who triumphed over Czako with a commanding score of 13-4, demonstrating technical superiority. Furthermore, India has the potential to secure a second medal in the 51kg repechage, contingent upon Sainath Pardhi’s performance, as he is set to compete against Dominic Michael Munaretto from the United States.
